Welcome to Heritage Pointe!
The Heritage Pointe location is in the Heritage Pointe community and was the original independent retail location for 1st Class. With amazing amenities of the nearby playground, tennis courts and basketball courts as well as a large grassy area for play and ravine for exploring nature it is a perfect addition!
1st Class Preschool and 1st Class After Class – serve all the families of the Heritage Pointe Community, the DeWinton area as well as being our Kindergarten Care and Out of School care location for children from the Fish Creek School, Cranston Community and the communities of Seton and Auburn Bay. This location offers a Before and After School program, Kindergarten Care Program and Preschool Classes.
At 1st Class Preschool and 1st Class After Class – Heritage Pointe, it is our mission to make every child feel happy, safe and free to explore and learn, which we achieve through a programming designed specifically to meet the needs of each child, we provide tons of opportunities to engage in STEM, play, physical activities, literacy, clubs, and more. Our Kindergarten program offers programming that is designed to complement what they are learning in their classroom while still Playing, Growing, Learning & Having fun with weekly themes based on their interests.
Group Play
It is a time for story and language development, music and movement activities, and other varied learning experiences.
Dramatic Play
Our programs all have a pretend and learn area devoted to developing a child’s sense of “make believe”.
Before & After Grade 1-6
Our before and after-care programs go well beyond homework help. We support children in becoming the kindest, most capable, and most resilient version of themselves.
Activities
With regular outdoor time and planned indoor activities, our children experience a world of movement, dance and recreation.
Reading
Books allow children to enter a world of “make believe” and learn about new and exciting things.
Kindergarten Care
Our programs use a curriculum that is individualized to every age, with planned activities that combine learning and fun to create happy, curious kids.
Felicia Mautin
Centre Director
Felicia is the Centre Director for the Heritage pointe location. Felicia has over 10 years experience in the field with B.Sc. in Child Development and Family Studies and the highest level of qualification in Early Childhood Education and Learning. At work, you would find Felicia managing the center, engaging with the kids and supporting her staff.
Felicia is passionate about working with kids and believes in providing an exceptional experience for the kids and their families. Outside of work, Felicia enjoys spending time with her husband and her two beautiful girls.
Melisa Robert
Daycare Supervisor
We want to welcome Ms. Melissa to the 130th team! She is a Child Development Supervisor with a diploma in Early Childhood Education and have been in the field for over 16 years. Prior to 1st Class, she was the Assistant Director at her previous centre for over the 10 years. She also participated in 2 of the 4 pilot projects for Flight as well as a 3 year partnership with with pedagogical leaders from Flight and the ASaP Program (Access, Support and Participation).
Ms Melissa says "I love watching children grow and learn through their own experiences. To be able to foster a child’s growth and development is an amazing experience to be a part of. I’m grateful for the daily opportunities to be a co-researcher and co-learner with the children". When she is not busy working you can find her hanging out with her two boys and husband, spending time with family and friends, as well as hiking in the mountains.
Tracey Ockey
Please meet Ms. Tracy! She is a born and raised Calgarian who has been married for almost 38 years and has 3 sons aging from 27 to 34 years. She was formally trained a medical assistant but wanted to make a change and since, has had the privilege of working with several aged children throughout her years in various youth groups.
Ms. Tracy has been a valued member of the 1st Class team since March 2021 and has thoroughly enjoyed working with the preschool and kindergarten aged children. She says it warms her heart to see their confidence grow from when they first enter through the doors till the end of the year!
In her free time, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors. She also enjoys cooking and canning and spending time with her family.
Bailey McCarthy
Meet Ms. Baylie! She has always had a love of working with children, from being a nanny and cutting children's hair while she worked as a hairstylist for several years before she joined 1st Class. She looks forward to always learning more about children and their growth. She loves working with the preschool ages children because they are learning and developing so much at that age.
Ms. Baylie loves getting outside whether it’s during preschool with the class playing in the snow or catching bugs in the warmer months, and at home taking her dog for walks and to play in the river.
