The Somerset School is an elementary school located in the Somerset Community in Calgary. 1st Class After Class – Somerset runs from the school gymnasium and a Classroom in one of the school’s portable. This location offers a Before and After School program and a Kindergarten program, we serve all families of the Somerset school.

At 1st Class After Class – Somerset, our staff are dedicated to creating an environment where children can learn through play, explore, experiment and investigate the world around them. Providing them with a sense of security, belonging and self, while being a part of a community of caring and respecting others with our educators who are trained and qualified to provide a superior level of instruction and teaching.

Group Play

It is a time for story and language development, music and movement activities, and other varied learning experiences.

Dramatic Play

Our programs all have a pretend and learn area devoted to developing a child’s sense of “make believe”.

Before & After Grade 1-6

Our before and after-care programs go well beyond homework help. We support children in becoming the kindest, most capable, and most resilient version of themselves.

Activities

With regular outdoor time and planned indoor activities, our children experience a world of movement, dance and recreation.

Reading

Books allow children to enter a world of “make believe” and learn about new and exciting things.

Kindergarten Care

Our programs use a curriculum that is individualized to every age, with planned activities that combine learning and fun to create happy, curious kids.

Rosalie Olaso

Director

Rosalie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She is a creative and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator and has completed her Level 3. Rosalie has diverse experience in teaching and supervising children and has done so for the last 16 years. She is a passionate educator and provides quality care and play experiences that support the child’s developmental needs and is deeply committed to valuing and respecting children's abilities and skills, while allowing them to share ideas and learn through exploration.

Rosalie is a mother of 2 boys. When she is not working, she loves spending time with family and friends. She utilizes her time taking her children to their extracurricular activities, watching movies, walking in nature and playing disc golf is how she passes evening and weekends. She loves the outdoors and loves to maintain her physical health in nature!
