The New Brighton Clubhouse is the community hub for the New Brighton Community in Calgary, which is located in the New Brighton neighbourhood. 1st Class After Class – New Brighton Clubhouse serve all the families of the Auburn Bay, New Brighton Community and have children from the New Brighton School, St. Marguerite School, Dr. Martha Cohen School and FFCA. This location offers a Before and After School program and Kindergarten program.
At 1st Class After Class – New Brighton Clubhouse, we believe it is our mission to make every child feel happy, safe and free to explore and learn, which we achieve through a programming designed specifically to meet the needs of each child, we provide tons of opportunities to engage in STEM, play, physical activities, literacy, clubs, and more. Our Kindergarten program offers programming that is designed to complement what they are learning in their classroom while still Playing, Growing, Learning & Having fun with weekly themes based on their interests.
It is a time for story and language development, music and movement activities, and other varied learning experiences.
Our programs all have a pretend and learn area devoted to developing a child’s sense of “make believe”.
Before & After Grade 1-6
Our before and after-care programs go well beyond homework help. We support children in becoming the kindest, most capable, and most resilient version of themselves.
With regular outdoor time and planned indoor activities, our children experience a world of movement, dance and recreation.
Books allow children to enter a world of “make believe” and learn about new and exciting things.
Our programs use a curriculum that is individualized to every age, with planned activities that combine learning and fun to create happy, curious kids.
Meet Mr. Brendon! Mr. Brendon is a Child development Assistant furthering his education in Early Childhood Learning and also has a long history in coaching athletics. He grew up playing soccer during his youth and hockey throughout his early adulthood. He believes sports gives a sense of discipline while also giving children a sense of belonging and confidence. Mr. Brendon has a lot knowledge teaching through sports and has a thorough understanding of how children learn through sports.
Mr. Brendon has also brought his love for music into the programs as he incorporates learning experiences through music and movement. When Mr. Brendon is not having fun with children in the program, he enjoys family time which involves hiking and camping. He also loves skiing, hockey and plays soccer in the city.
Meet Ms. Carol! She is a welcomed new addition to the 1st Class team and graduated from Mount Royal University with the highest level in early childhood education which qualifies her as a child development supervisor. She has been working with children for almost 10 years now and loves watching the children learn and grow. Ms. Carol says, “It is always amazing to see their faces light up each time they learn something new. This motivates me to be a better educator and role-model”.
In her spare time, Ms. Carol likes to be outdoors with her family, going for a walk, hiking or camping.
