New Brighton Clubhouse - Preschool
Welcome to our Preschool!
We are very excited to be a part of the New Brighton Community in SE Calgary! We are located on the upper floor of the New Brighton Club in the heart of the New Brighton Community.
Our tailored focus to the development of the whole child means that every child will find a happy home here. In keeping with this philosophy, the program is designed to offer children the freedom to choose from a variety of experiences such as, play, craft time, and circle time which provides stimulating and interesting opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills, as well as build confidence at their own individual pace.
We have two 3-year-old programs and two 4-year-old programs. Each program has a minimum of two qualified teachers with over 30 years combined experience. We include professional music and yoga classes as part of our monthly programs for all classes. We also take every advantage of our huge outdoor play spaces behind the security of the locked gates of the New Brighton Club.
Group Play
It is a time for story and language development, music and movement activities, and other varied learning experiences.
Dramatic Play
Our programs all have a pretend and learn area devoted to developing a child’s sense of “make believe”.
Before & After Grade 1-6
Our before and after-care programs go well beyond homework help. We support children in becoming the kindest, most capable, and most resilient version of themselves.
Activities
With regular outdoor time and planned indoor activities, our children experience a world of movement, dance and recreation.
Reading
Books allow children to enter a world of “make believe” and learn about new and exciting things.
Kindergarten Care
Our programs use a curriculum that is individualized to every age, with planned activities that combine learning and fun to create happy, curious kids.
Sandra Wain
Preschool Program Lead
Ms. Sandra is a welcomed new addition to the New Brighton Clubhouse team! She has worked in childcare for over 15 years as a daycare provider, preschool provider, and Educational Assistant. She believes play is children’s work and very committed to creating a safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment that helps the children grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively! Ms. Sandra, her husband, five children, their two dogs and fish relocated to Alberta from Ontario four years ago.
She says, "I love nature and animals and since coming to Alberta, I have owned many animals, such as alpacas, goats, horses, chickens, roosters, cats, and dogs. Additionally, I ran a small hobby farm and boarding facility and even helped birth two baby alpaca (cria)! It should come as no surprise that I love incorporating nature and animals into my program, any time I can”.
